FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Over the years the same questions continually surface while I've met with many clients. Here is a list of the most common questions and answers. Hopefully this will cover all your questions, but feel free to ask any others you may have.
Question: Do I have to pay Utah Sales Tax?
Answer: Yes, All Utah businesses are required to pay Utah sales tax. We are compelled to pay sales tax based on where tax is collected. My office is located in Cedar City, Utah. The rate for Cedar City is 6.05% for all photographic services.
Question: Will I receive a copy of all my images taken of our wedding day?
Answer: Yes, All of our bookings include a copy of High Resolution digital negative of images taken. Included in our larger collection you have your choice of receiving a USB Drive or electronic download to your computer. These will be provided at the same time as the wedding album if ordered.
Question: Do or can you retouch our wedding images?
Answer: All images that are provided are color corrected, cropped or if necessary minor blemishes are removed. Retouching or the creation of Rick's art for inclusion into an album is done on a cost per image basis done in Photoshop and can be ordered for an additional fee through my website as prints, downloads or can be selected at no charge to be placed into your wedding album "if" ordered from us.
Question: Do your wedding collections include an Engagement session?
Answer: We offer an engagement session on an option for invitations, or reception prints. We feel it's an excellent way of getting to know each other and understand what you can expect from us on your wedding day.
Question: Do you schedule more than one wedding on any one date?
Answer: No. We value our client and place 100% effort into each of our clients for the entire day.
Question: Will you hold a date for me?
Answer: We will hold a date with a required deposit of 50% of the contracted service. It is expected that the balance will be paid in full at least one week prior to the event.
Question: Should I have to cancel our wedding, will I receive my deposit(s) back?
Answer: No. I'm sure that you can understand that I'm holding a date for you at the expense of another contract opportunity. We reserve our bookings on a first come, first served basis. "IF" I'm able to book another wedding on short notice on the same day, we may be able to return your deposit. Our better solution is that we will hold your deposit for six months towards a rescheduled date at an equal or greater value.
Question: Why should I consider ordering prints from you when I know I can get cheaper prices on my own locally?
Answer: Our professional lab offers premium development on all images ordered through Rick Thompson Photography. Plus the convenience of direct on line ordering printed on name brand paper, the best paper available anywhere. I've taken five of the same images to Costco and Walmart and have received different print results from both. Sure they offer bargain prices, but these are your memories that you should want to last a lifetime. My professional lab pricing is very competitive with other professional labs and you'll feel confident that the quality will last a lifetime. I offer their 100% guarantee should you not be satisfied.
Question: How do I order prints from you?
Answer: Directly from your personal web gallery when made available. You family members can order as well.
Question: How long does it take to get prints from you?
Answer: Once your order has been placed, production may take two days, and you will be given choices on how quickly you wish to receive your images. Normal turnaround time is about 5 business days.
Question: When will the images taken from my wedding be available to view?
Answer: Your images will be available to view on a optional password protect web site accessible using a secure web link usually within two weeks or sooner. You may view your images, select images for prints, forward your link to your friends family, and attendees for their viewing. You will also be asked to pick your favorites to be included in your wedding album if ordered. Images from your wedding may begin to be added to our web site and to our blog, but only after you've seen your images first.
Question: Do you back up my wedding images?
Answer: Your wedding images are part of your family and we treat them as such. We recommend that you back up the copy provided and give a copy to another family member for safe keeping. We back up to several different drives and/or make Flash drives as a master should you ever need another copy. Additional copies will be $25 each.
Question: What is your policy about friends or family taking pictures during our wedding.
Answer: Your day is a special day and it is understandable for your family wanting to capture memories during the ceremony. The only thing we ask is that while we are taking group shots, what usually happens is that other family members start taking pictures WHILE I've set the pose. It distracts people, causing them to look at different cameras rather than my camera. Please consider you've paid a considerable sum to ensure perfect images. Often times I get images that I think are perfect, only to see half of the subjects looking to the left or right at different sources. As a client, you won't be happy with this, so as such we ask that you counsel with your family members accordingly. We have a limited amount of time to capture your day and ask that you provide as much time to do this as possible. We also ask that family and friends don't follow or accompany our bride and groom session portraits to ensure privacy and to maintain the intimacy of their portraits.
Question: Do you have back up gear just in case there may be a problem?
Answer: Absolutely! We use only premium Canon photography equipment and have two camera bodies and multiple lens and lighting equipment.
Question: OK, I like your work and the value you offer and I'm ready to move forward, what do I have to do to commission you?
Answer: Once you decide to book "Rick Thompson Photography," we'll need to meet when I can show you all your options, decide what level of services you need and want. At that time I'll prepare a contract and will require 50% deposit to hold your day. All details and understanding will be included in your contract. The balance will be due one week prior to your wedding date. You can contact me at 949.366.0876 or email me directly at CedarCityRick@gmail.com
